Power BI project version of each edition

Spend-against-budget reports tell you what a project has cost. They don’t tell you what that money bought or where the project will finish. By the time an overrun shows up in the spend figures, most of the ways to recover have gone.

The Earned Value Performance Dashboard for Power BI answers the questions sponsors actually ask:

  • Are we getting the value we’re paying for?

  • Where will we finish if nothing changes?

  • What efficiency would it take to finish on budget?

It reads three simple tables:

  • EVM Period Performance: one row per project or work package per status date

  • Milestones

  • Recovery Actions

From these it builds a four-page executive report, plus a drill-through page, a hover tooltip and a built-in guide:

  • Executive Performance. Budget, earned progress against plan, CPI, SPI, the selected EAC and TCPI. A cumulative S-curve, an EAC scenario comparison, a portfolio heatmap and key-insight text that updates as you filter.

  • Cost & Schedule. PV, EV, AC and both variances. Cost and schedule variance by project, the CPI and SPI trend, and the work packages driving the variance.

  • Forecast & Scenarios. Selected EAC, remaining cost (ETC) and variance at completion (VAC). EAC under each method, TCPI achievability by project, and a project-by-project scenario table.

  • Exceptions & Recovery. Open and overdue actions, late critical milestones and projects forecast to finish late. Forecast against baseline finish, milestone status and the open recovery-action list.

  • Project Detail (drill-through). Right-click any project to see its own S-curve and work-package performance.

  • Project Snapshot (tooltip). Hover over a project for its key figures and EAC scenarios.

Calculation rules:

  • Portfolio CPI and SPI are calculated from summed values, never by averaging project indices.

  • Each project uses its latest status report on or before the selected month.

  • Every amount is converted to the base currency before anything is added up.
